My name is Ava Marie Wion. I am the Owner and Head Trainer of Katka Working Dog Training. In addition to K9 training, I am also a Search and Rescue K9 Handler who specializes in tracking and trailing. I have been training dogs for 7 years and I also have 3 years of experience as a veterinary technician.
When I’m not training dogs or responding to SAR calls, you can find me enjoying the outdoors by hiking, camping, fishing, and biking with my dogs and loving husband.
I have three Belgian Malinois, two German Shepherds, and a Rottweiler Mix. Below is a little about each of them:
K9 Zuko, Belgian Malinois Certified in Tracking, Trailing, Narcotics Detection
Herja aka Letti Aus Der Asche, German Shepherd (pictured left) training in Explosives Detection, Patrol Tracking, IGP. Co-Owned with Karin Wagemann of Nine Realms Canine Training in Spokane, WA.
Xerxes Aus Der Asche, German Shepherd. Training in Narcotics Detection and IGP.
Apollo, Belgian Malinois. Training in service dog disciplines.
Gidget, Belgian Malinois. Active pet and spicy girl.
Aya, Rottweiler Mix. My first dog and only floppy-eared resident of my household. She is the one who made me fall in love with dog training.

K9 Lobo
1 year old German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois – Patrol Tracking and Narcotics Detection.
65lbs
K9 Lobo was pulled from a shelter in central Washington at 10 months old. He passed his Working K9 evaluation at the shelter with flying colors. This confident boy immediately showed very natural skill in patrol tracking. Lobo is an extremely confident and independent dog when working and he has solid food and toy drive. Lobo has had his hips and elbows radiographed and examined by a veterinarian as and he is in good physical health.
Lobo is currently for sale as a STARTED or FINISHED Patrol K9. He understands Patrol Tracking in urban and forested areas. He understands narcotics detection in buildings and vehicles. And he understands advanced e-collar obedience with sit, platz, here, kennel, etc. Lobo is a neutral leaning but generally social dog.
K9 Lieke (pronounced Lee-kah, Dutch for “angelic”)
1 year old Malinois x – Single Purpose Detection K9
47lbs
K9 Lieke is an extremely confident and social girl who I pulled from a shelter at 10 months old. During her shelter evaluation this girl passed every test above and beyond my expectations. Her hunt drive is through the roof, with environmental and social confidence to match. K9 Lieke has not been started on odor and is available as a single purpose Explosives or Narcotics Detection K9. I have not evaluated her for tracking just yet although I assume that she would be a natural. K9 Lieke has had a full physical examination including radiographs of her hips and elbows, which have been evaluated by our veterinarian as being in perfect condition.
K9 Lieke is available as a STARTED or FINISHED Single Purpose Detection K9. I believe she would be an amazing PR dog for any department. I also believe K9 Lieke would be an amazing Search and Rescue Dog in the right hands.
SOLD- K9 Badger
2 year old KNPV Malinois – Dual Purpose Patrol K9
85lbs
K9 Badger is a Dual-Purpose Patrol K9 AVAILABLE TO LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES ONLY.
Badger is a natural in bite work who switches from prey to defense easily. He has full, firm grips on the sleeve and is very civil. Badger is a natural in detection and has been started in Narcotics Detection. He works odor well and is a very methodical Malinois when working. (A unicorn as far as I’m concerned). Badger has solid obedience and also knows a few random tricks such as roll over, sit pretty, center, and bark. Badger has a good off switch and is good in the home. Badger is NOT SAFE with intact male dogs, children, or small animals. K9 Badger would do best in a department that doesn’t have expectations of him to be a PR dog and he would also do best with an experienced patrol K9 handler as he is a very serious dog.
